Abstract

The proposed project consists of maintenance and rehabilitation of the Peters Street bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad in downtown Atlanta, Georgia (Figure 1). The proposed work includes spall and crack correction, painting of the steel superstructure, co-polymer overlay, edge beam reconstruction, and replacement of steel joints.

Since the previous archaeology survey in August 2016, the description of the project was revised to include pile structural repairs and the installation of a strut support at bent 17. The proposed strut support would require the installation of a concrete footing directly adjacent to the existing footing at bent 17 (Figures 2 and 3). The proposed footing measures 5 feet 9 inches square and is 1 foot thick. No other ground disturbance is proposed for this project and all work will take place within existing right-of-way.
