The purpose of this project is bridge rehabilitation at the State Route (SR) 5/ SR 8/US Highway (US) 78 bridge over Sweetwater Creek (Structure ID 067-0031 -0) and the SR 8/ US 78 bridge over the Chattahoochee River (Structure ID 067-0034-0) in Cobb County, Georgia. The proposed project will consist of bridge deck rehabilitation, anchor belt repair, painting of the steel superstructure, spall repairs, replacement of bearings, and the replacement of bridge deck joints at both locations. The project also includes the replacement of portions of existing sidewalk on the south side of SR 5 directly adjacent to the bridge and the installation of rip-rap at Bents 1 and 6 at the SR 5 bridge. There will be an offsite detour using existing roads (SR 70 and SR 139) for the temporary closure of tl1e SR 8 bridge for deck rehabilitation and bearing replacement. Existing right of way (RO\'Q) varies and is a minin1um of 50 feet on either side of the bridge.
