Abstract

State Route (SR) 138 is a two-lane road that is classified as an Urban Principal Arterial. SR 138 currently has an eastbound right turn lane for Amherst Lane. This project will provide a left-turn lane at the intersection of SR 138 and Amherst Lane to improve safety and improve operation of turn movements at this location . The project consists of adding a left turn lane to Amherst Lane by widening SR 138 asymmetrically to the north of its current alignment. The widening would begin just east of the existing triple 8x8 box culvert at Almand Creek and would taper to 12 feet at the intersection with Amherst Lane. Existing right-of-way (ROW) width is 100 feet and the proposed width is between 100 to 140 feet with four anticipated parcels impacted.
