Abstract

This report presents the results of a Phase I archaeological survey for the proposed Ronald Reagan

Parkway AIMS from Pleasant Hill Road to SR 124 in Gwinnett County, Georgia. This survey was conducted by Moreland Altobelli, Inc (MAAI) on March 14, 2016 for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). The proposed project would consist of directional boring and installation of TY3 strain poles for cameras within the existing shoulders of the roadway. Conduit, poles, and pull boxes would be placed within existing right-of-way (ROW) in the shoulder of the road. The directional boring would involve boring beneath the road to reach the other side. The shoulder work would involve the installation of pull boxes and conduit and would utilize existing conduit and pull boxes where possible. The overall project length along Ronald Reagan Parkway from Pleasant Hill Road to State Route (SR) 124 is approximately 7.1 miles and along Lawrenceville Highway/SR 29 from Lester Road to Ronald Reagan Parkway is approximately .58 miles (Figures 1-3). In consultation with GDOT, the Area of Potential Effect (APE) for this project was determined to include all existing ROW along the project corridor extending 20 feet outside of the toe of slope on either side of the roadway.
