Abstract

P.l. 0012824 would consist of upgrading traffic signals and pedestrian accommodations at four (4) intersections along Ponce de Leon Avenue (SR 8/SR 1 0/US 23/US 29/US 78/US 278) in the City of Atlanta within DeKalb County (Figures 1-5). The four (4) intersections proposed for improvement are Clifton Road at Ponce de Leon Avenue; Fairview Road/Lullwater Road at Ponce de Leon Avenue; Oakdale Road at Ponce de Leon Avenue; and Springdale Road at Ponce de Leon Avenue. The proposed improvements at the four (4) intersections would include the replacement of existing traffic signal span wire with mast arms. The proposed improvements at the intersections would also include some or all of the following: additional signage, striping/pavement markings, and/or trimming of vegetation for improved visibility. Of the eight proposed setback loops, five will requiring trenching and three will require directional boring. Cables will be run through bored conduit at the east approach to Springdale Rd, the north approach of Oakdale Rd, and the north approach to Lullwater Rd. Some improvements to the existing pavement, drainage, and/or curbing also may be undertaken as part of the proposed project. If so, those improvements would be limited to the existing intersection corners. No improvements to the communications system are necessary between the signalized Intersections. The total project length is 1.6 km (1.0 mi), and the existing right-of-way (ROW) ranges in width from 18.3-20.7 m (60-68 ft). The acquisition of additional ROW is not anticipated; however, permanent and/or temporary easements are required.
