The project was plotted on the Meigs 7.5' U.S .G.S. topographic map. The site files at Georgia State University listed no sites within the project area. The site files at the University of Georgia list 89 prehistoric archaeological sites in the Big Slough watershed in Mitchell and Grady counties approximately 16 kilometers (10 miles) east of the project area . These sites were discovered in the course of an archaeological survey of the watershed for the Soil Conservation Service (Fish and Mitchell, 1976).
