Abstract

"In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto and the Georgia Environmental Policy Act, project TSAP-920, Fayette County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project would improve sight distance along McDonough Road in Fayette County. The project would improve sight distance by cutting down the grade along McDonough Road at the intersection of County Line Road. On McDonough Road, the project would begin 329 feet west of County Line Road and extend 719 feet east of County Line Road. On County Line Road the project would extend 325 feet south of McDonough Road. An additional 80 feet of right-of-way would be required along the south side of McDonough Road for the construction of a temporary detour road.
