Abstract

"In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, and the Georgia Environmental Policy Act of 1991, project PR-481-1(143), Haralson County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible f or inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) . The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and e valuate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project would reconstruct Tallapoosa Street utilizing new location and an existing dirt road/Boot Camp Drive in Haralson County. The proposed project would begin at SR 1 and continue northeasterly on new location tying into Boot Camp Drive. From Boot Camp Drive the proposed project would continue northerly to an ending point at the Haralson County Boot Camp. The total required right-of-way would vary from 30 to 76 m (100 to 250ft) . An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed project's rights-of-way was conducted for the entire 1.02 km (0.64 mi.) project corridor.
