Abstract

In compliance with section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project F-005-4(14), Emanuel Co., has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in. the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

Three basic alternates have been proposed for replacement of the Central of Georgia Railroad bridge over S.R. 26 in Swainsboro. As much as 26 feet of additional right-of-way would be required along S. R. 26 from the S.R. 26/S.R. 4 intersection east to a point east of the underpass. The railroad alignment would be shifted as much as 50 feet south of the present alignment, requiring some additional railroad right-of-way.
