Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, Maintenance Project on SR 201 in Whitfield County, has been surveyed with respect to archeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project will consist of improving the intersection at SR 201 and City Street 203. The turning radius will be improved to a three-centered radius to facilitate heavy truck turning movements. Existing right-of-way on SR 201 is 33 feet. Additional right-of-way will vary from 7 to 45 feet for a total proposed right-of-way varying from 52 to 140 feet. The total length of this project is 143 feet.
