The subject project would consist of the joint removal and replacement and joint repair of 5 bridges in Cobb and Dekalb Counties. The following bridges are included in the proposed project:
1-285 over 1-85
1-85 SB over l-285 EB
1-285 EB over I-285 NB
1-85 NB over 1-285 WB
I-285 over Chattahoochee River
Dekalb County
Dekalb County
Dekalb County
Dekalb County
Cobb County
All work would be completed from the bridge deck; therefore, no earthwork would be included in the proposed project. No acquisition of additional right-of-way or construction would be required to implement the project.
According to 36 CFR 800.2(o), an "undertaking" consists of "any project, activity, or program that can result in changes in the character or use of historic properties, if any such properties are located within the proposed project's area of potential effects ... "
This project does not have the potential to result in changes to the character or use of any historic properties; therefore, the subject project does not constitute an undertaking. This finding fulfills the Department's requirements under Section 106.
