Archeological Assessment of Project CSSTP-M002-00(690), Jasper County.
This project involves 2' shoulder paving, leveling and resurfacing on a portion of SR 16, beginning at the Butts/Jasper County Line (ML 0.00) and ending at the intersection of SR 16 and Spring Street in the city limits of Monticello, Georgia (ML 9.16). No additional right-of-way will be required. The total project length is 9.16 miles.
Pursuant to the February 2000 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federal Highway Administration (FHW A), the State Historic Preservation Officer of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (SHPO), and the Georgia Department of Transportation, this project is considered an undertaking as defined in 36 CFR 800.16(y), however, it has been determined there is no potential to affect historic properties included in or considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
