Abstract

Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project IR-75-l(l66)Ct. l and Ct. 2, Bibb County have been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor.

The proposed projects would widen I-75 between Hartley Bridge Road and Eisenhower Parkway/ U.S. 80 south of Macon. In addition, a new loop in the northwest quadrant of the Eisenhower Parkway/ I-75 interchange would be required. Bridges over Tobesofkee Creek and overflow, S.R. 246/ U.S. 41, Rocky Creek, Rocky Creek Road, and Newburg Road would be widened. The bridge carrying Eisenhower

Parkway over I-75 would be reconstructed to accommodate intersection modifications. No additional right-of-way would be required with the exception of 3.6 acres of additional right-of-way required for the new loop at Eisenhower/ I-75 interchange. A survey consistent with the proposed and existing rights-of-way was surveyed for the entire length of the combined projects.
