Abstract

Located within the City of Blackshear, the subject projects represent a proposal to widen the existing portion of Purdon Street between US 82/S.R. 38 and Central Avenue, the construction of an overpass bridge over the CSX Railroad, and the connection of Pardon Street to Nichols Street via the overpass bridge and new location construction. The proposal would begin at the existing intersection of Purdon Street and U.S. 82/S.R.38 and extend southeasterly to a point on Nichols Street just south of the Azalea Street intersection. Total length of the combined projects is approximately 0.34 mile. Access would be regulated by driveway permits where the existing roadway is to be widened and controlled where on new location. The required right-of-way for widening Purdon Street is 100 feet in width. Currently, there is only 25 feet of existing right-of-way width for this facility. The overpass bridge and approaches would require 100 feet in width of right-of-way, and the new location roadway connection from the southeast overpass bridge approach to Nichols Street would require 80 feet of required right-of-way width.
