Abstract

The purpose of this project is bridge maintenance and rehabilitation at the state Route (R) I northbound bridge over SR 20 westbound (Structure I D 11 5-00 12-0) in Floyd County, Georgia and at the R 8 bridge over the Tallapoosa River ( structure ID 143-0004-0) in Haralson County, Georgia (Figures I a-b). The current R I northbound bridge is approximately 16 feet wide with variable width shoulders. The current SR 8 Bridge has one 12-foot eastbound lane with an 8-foot shoulder and one 12-foot westbound land with a I 0-foot shoulder. The typical sections of each bridge would remain unchanged and the work would be contained to the bridge structures and existing right-of-way (ROW), which varies but spans at minimum 35 feet from the centerline and more than 200 feet at its maximum. An off-site detour is not anticipated; however, traffic shifts would be expected due to temporary lane closures.
