Abstract

Archeological Assessment of a Troup County Bridge Maintenance Project. This project consists of the routine maintenance of 21 bridges in Troup County, Georgia. All work will be limited to the bridge deck. The proposed maintenance activities to be performed at each bridge are as follows. l. cleaning and removal of any dirt and debris located on the bridge deck and deck drains. 2. spalls and joint edges shall be repaired in accordance with the plan detail and Section 521. Repair method #2 shall be used. 3. all existing bridge joints shall be resealed. 4. all concrete shall be cleaned of all dust and debris by high-pressure air or power brushes. Pursuant to the February 2000 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federal Highway Administration (FHW A), the State Historic Preservation Officer of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (SHPO), and the Georgia Department of Transportation, this project is considered an undertaking as defined in 36 CFR 800.16(y), however, it has been determined there is no potential to affect historic properties included in or considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
