Abstract

Archeological Assessment of a Haralson County resurfacing project. This project consists of resurfacing, milling, and grading of SR 1 (Business) from the Carroll County Line to 165' north of the Tallapoosa East Church (M.P. 9.293) in Haralson County. In addition, earth shoulders would be reconstructed at variable depths. The existing shoulders would be scarified to a depth of 4' with scarified spacing of 6' maximum. All work is to be done within the existing right-of-way, no new right-of-way is required. Total project length is 9.293 miles. Pursuant to the February 2000 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federal Highway Administration (FHW A), the State Historic Preservation Officer of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (SHPO), and the Georgia Department of Transportation, this project is considered an undertaking as defined in 36 CFR 800.16(y), however, it has been determined there is no potential to affect historic properties included in or considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places.
