Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project STP-0000-00(650), Douglas County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect.

The proposed project would consist of upgrading traffic signals at eight locations along SR 5 and at each intersection of Lee Road and 1-20 in Douglas County. These intersections are as follows: SR 5 @ Central Church Road, SR5 @Sutton Drive, SR 5@ Wenona Street, SR5 @West Stewart Mill Road, SR 5 @ Arbor Station, SR 5 @ Douglas Boulevard, and both intersections at the SR 51 1-20 interchange. All construction would be limited to the existing right-of-way. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted along the entire project corridor.
