Abstract

In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments, thereto, project BHF-168-1(11), Clayton County, has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the project corridor. Plans indicate that S.R. 138 will be widened, and the bridge over the Flint River widened. The proposed widening will follow the existing alignment, except for a 900 foot section of new location on the east side of the river. A 150 foot corridor was surveyed for the project length. A 200 foot corridor was surveyed in the area of the bridge.
