In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act a survey has been conducted with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), for the following District VI bridge replacement projects:
BRZLB-0057(2), Cherokee County
BRZLB-0111(2), Fannin County
The survey included a surface inspection of each area to be affected complemented by periodic shovel testing where appropriate. These methods did not result in the location of any archaeological materials. Therefore, it may be concluded that the two above projects will have no effect upon archaeological resources on or eligible for inclusion in the NRHP. This report deals with the bridge replacement in Fannin County. Project BRZLB-0111(2) will replace the existing bridge on Hemptown Creek at its present location.
