Abstract

Environmental Corporation of America (ECA) has completed an Archaeological Assessment for the federal undertaking at the subject site. The subject site includes a proposed approximate 49-foot by 19-foot (15-meter by 6-meter) compound expansion area to an existing approximate 70-foot long by 70-foot wide (21-meter by 21-meter) telecommunications facility and a collocation of antennas on an existing 266-foot (overall height) self-supporting lattice telecommunications tower. The subject site is located at 4592 Hog Mountain Road, Buford, Hall County, Georgia.

This archaeological assessment was conducted in order to ascertain whether the proposed undertaking might directly or indirectly affect cultural resources, if any such resources exist.

During our database research, we found no previously recorded archaeological sites or archaeological surveys within our standard 1-mile background research radius. During the course of the Phase I intensive field survey portion of this archaeological assessment, no archaeological cultural resources were encountered and no archaeological sites were discovered.

ECA believes that the proposed undertaking would have no effect on any historic or prehistoric archaeological resources that are listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Based on our findings related to archaeological resources, we recommend no further consultation under Section 106 Review of the National Historic Preservation Act for this proposed undertaking.
