Abstract

TerraXplorations, Inc. (TerraX) of Mobile, Alabama was contracted by Trileaf Corporation (Trileaf) of Maitland, Florida, to conduct a Phase I archaeological direct effects and visual effects survey for the proposed Funston cellular tower in Colquitt County, Georgia. The Area of Potential Effects (APE) for direct effects includes a proposed 75-x-75 ft lease area with proposed 75-x-30-ft access and utility easement gravel turnaround area and two access/utility easements. The proposed tower will be a self-support type and constructed to a height of 199 ft. The total area of the direct effects APE amount to 1.06 acres.

Background research and the field survey followed guidelines established under the FCC Programmatic Agreement. No NRHP listed or eligible properties or archaeological sites are located within the .5 mile APE.

During the course of the field survey portion of this archaeological assessment, no archaeological cultural resources were encountered. No previously recorded archaeological sites or historic resources are located within the .5-mile radius of the current study area. As no historic properties are located within the APE, TerraX recommends clearance for this project in regard to cultural resource concerns.
