Abstract

The subject project would consist of the milling, leveling, and resurfacing of I-75 through Gordon and Whitfield Counties. The proposed project would begin at the north end of the bridge over SR 156 and would end at the south end of the bridge over SR 3. Also included in the proposed project would be the resealing of the deck joints of the bridges within the project corridor. No earthwork would be involved in the process of milling, leveling, resurfacing, or joint resealing of the existing roadway. No acquisition of additional right-of-way or construction would be required to implement the project.

According to 36 CFR 800.2(0), an "undertaking" consists of "any project, activity, or program that can result in changes in the character or use of historic properties, if any such properties are located within the proposed project’s area of potential effects…” This project does not have the potential to result in changes to the character or use of any historic properties, therefore, the subject project does not constitute an undertaking. This finding fulfils the Department’s requirements under Section 106.
