Abstract

The Sugar Creek site, 9GM4, was located in the 1950s by the authors in southeastern Morgan County, Georgia. Limited work was conducted there prior to 1988. In the summer of that year major archaeological excavations took place at this small archaeological site. The total numbers of features identified and numbered at the Sugar Creek site during the 1988 excavations was 49. In this section, we present detailed information on all of them. Many of the numbered features are actually post molds. There is a clear association of some of the human burials with some of the post structures identified at the site. There is also an area with a high density of sherds in the surface collection. This report is about the archaeology at the Sugar Creek site, 9GM4.
