The proposed project consists of widening S.R. 4/U.S. 1 in Baxley from just south of the intersection of U.S. 1 and U.S. 341 northward to the north city limits of Baxley. From the beginning of the project to the U.S. 341 intersection, a distance of approximately 700', the existing 60' urban section would be converted to a five-lane road\1ay by use of signs and pavement markings. Throughout the remainder of the project, the existing two-lane facility will be widened to accommodate a five-lane urban section with underground drainage and five-foot sidewalks on either side. The center 1ane would function as a continuous 1eft turn 1ane. The existing 50' right-of-way would be supplemented by an additional 15' of right-of-way on either side. The length of the project is 1.14 miles.
