Abstract

Visited project area on March 8, 1973, made visual reconnaissance and checked likely looking sites on foot. No sites of archaeological or historical significance were noted. There are no existing structures of potential historical significance anywhere near the right of way or close to any possible expansion of the right of way.

There is a general area of chert exposure along the north side of the right of way between S1636 (Westover Road ?) and Beattie Road, but no identifiable artifacts indicating a workshop area were found. Because of the frequency of similar outcroppings in this region it is quite feasible that there would be such an outcropping not utilized by prehistoric Indians.
