Abstract

The proposed project would consist of the milling, resurfacing, shoulder widening construction, earth shoulder rehabilitation, and striping on SR 3 in Gordon County, Georgia. The proposed project on SR 3 would begin on SR 401 (1-75) and continue northerly to an end point at the Gordon/Whitfield County line (generally MP 11.35 to MP 15.68). All work will be restricted to within the existing right-of-way. The proposed project would consist of spot milling, resurfacing, earth shoulder rehabilitation and striping of SR 3 from 1-75/SR 401 to the Whitfield County line (mile post 11.348 to 15.684). All work will be performed within existing right-of-way. The area investigated was the existing right-of-way along SR 3. This area includes the road bed, shoulders, and utility right-of-way. Most of the corridor of SR 3 is residential but there are pockets of wooded area and some commercial centers as well (as at the intersection of SR 3 and 1-75). The area along the existing right-of-way is already highly disturbed; therefore, it was considered unlikely that there would be preserved deposits (or deposits needing preservation) within the limits.
