Abstract

On January 22, 2020, ERM archaeologists Jayson Zoino and Emily Jones conducted a site visit at 136 Rose Avenue, Macon, Bibb County, Georgia, for a proposed communications project under the direction of Principal Investigator Emily Laird, RPA. The project consists of proposed satellite access node (SAN) facility with an overall height not to exceed 20 ft. and a total footprint of 6,587 square ft. (611.9 m2) including the compound, access, and all easements. The project footprint is considered the direct Area of Potential Effects (APE). The visual APE was considered to be a 500 ft. radius surrounding the project area, based on guidance from SHPO and the overall height. The proposed project location is within a paved and graveled commercial area which is currently used as a dump for building materials as well as a storage area. The surrounding view-shed, including the APE for visual effects, consists of residential, commercial, and recreational properties. No archaeological or historic resources were identified within the APE for direct effects. No archaeological sites were identified within the APE for visual effects. Two structures on the parent parcel were documented within the APE for visual effects. ERM recommends a finding of no historic properties within the direct and visual APEs.
