Abstract

Tower Engineering Professionals, Inc. (TEP) is assisting City Switch, LLC with the construction of a 295-ft AGL (305-ft AGL with appurtenances) guyed communications tower located north of a portion of Balenna Church Road, east o f a portion of Barnes Road, west o f a portion of State Highway 15, southeast of the City of Sparta, within Hancock County, Georgia (Hancock County Parcel #212016). Installation of the telecommunication tower and facility is regulated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The proposed action area is anticipated to include the proposed tower compound lease area which will occupy approximately 10,000-ft' (-0.23-acres) tower compound lease area, easement -66, 150-ft 1 (~1.52- acres) access & utility, and three (3) ~3,440-ft􀯭 (-0.08-acres) guy-wire easements. Therefore, the area of potential disturbance associated with the proposed action is anticipated to total approximately 86,470-ft 2 (-1.99-acres).

The archaeological investigation was conducted on June 9, 2020 and included an assessment of the proposed I0,000-ft 2 (~0.23-acres) tower compound lease area, easement -66,150-ft 2 (~1.52-acres) access & utility, and three (3) .... J,440-ft 2 (-0.08-acres) guy-wire easements. The survey resulted in the identification of no (0) archaeological artifacts or sites. Additionally, background research conducted on June 8, 2020, resulted in the identification no (0) listed, eligible, or potentially eligible historic properties within the visual and direct area of potential effects (APE). No avoidance or further work is recommended for the proposed project and we recommend no archaeological sites or historic properties will be affected.
