Abstract

The proposed project would consist of the replacement of the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Bridge, Structure ID 189-0031-0, on State Route (SR) 80 over the Little River in McDuffie, Warren, and Wilkes counties (Figure 1). The proposed bridge would replace the existing 81.7 meter [m] (268 foot [ft]) seven-span bridge along the same horizontal alignment with a 88.4 m (290 ft) bridge. Shoulders within the project limits would be widened to 4.88 m (16 ft) to accommodate new guardrail and to meet current design standards. To meet the minimum clearance requirements over the 100-year flood elevation, the vertical grade would be raised 1.22 to 1.52 m (4 to 5 ft) at the bridge and transitioned back to the existing vertical grade about 182.88 m (600 ft) north and south of the bridge. The existing right-of-way (ROW) is approximately 30.48 m (100 ft) on the approaches and 60.96 m (200 ft) at the existing bridge. Additional ROW and/or easement is anticipated in order to implement the proposed project, but the amount of ROW and/or easement is not known at this time. The length of the proposed project would be approximately 0.46 kilometers (km) (0.28 miles [mi]).
