Abstract

In accordance with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Low Impact Bridge Program (LIBP), a potential bridge replacement has been identified along Garretts Ferry Road, located in Fulton County, Georgia (Figure 1). The existing bridge (Structure ID# 121-5046-0) along Garretts Ferry Road spans a segment of a tributary of the Chattahoochee River tributary. The existing bridge measures approximately 16 meters (m) (52 feet [ft]) long by 7 m (23 ft) wide. The right-of-way (ROW) on Garretts Ferry Road is between approximately 7.6 and 8.5 m (25 and 28 ft) wide. As a candidate under the LIBP, the bridge will require minimal permits, no new ROW, minor utility impacts, no Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) coordination, no on-site detour, minimal easements, and is expected to be replaced on the current alignment.
