Report Number

Abstract

During the past few years the Southeast has given considerable thought and support to various archaeological excavations of the Works Progress Administration. In Savannah attention has been focused on the explorations at Irene Mound. The terms archaeology, excavations, Indians, mound, pre-history, etc., have become frequent topics of conversation. The interest in the work at Irene Mound is not confined to the city alone, but has reached outlying portions of the state and indeed has spread beyond the limits of Georgia.
