St. Johns Scored

The defining factor in St. Johns series is the temper. The temper in this type is diatomaceous earth. The diatomaceous earth occurs along the St. Johns River and is in the clay naturally.

Sorting Criteria

Scoring on diatomaceous earth-tempered pottery. The designs are shallow, straight, wavy, or curved scoring marks. It is sometimes difficult to separate this from St. Johns Simple Stamped.
