Abstract

An archaeological survey and cultural resource assessment of six upland sites located within the boundaries of the McIntosh Reserve of Carroll County, Georgia were conducted during November of 1982. These six areas are scheduled for development into recreational and parking uses in the near future.

Figure 1 illustrates the location of each of the areas that were surveyed. Each of these sites is currently in highly eroded uplands over the Chattahoochee River and an unnamed creek that is a tributary of the Chattahoochee. An intensive archaeological inspection of the six areas disclosed the presence of one un-recorded site. This site, WGC 1561, was a small lithic scatter that was exposed in an existing roadbed. This site is not considered eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places.
