Abstract

Cultural resources surveys by the author on six timber sale areas on National Forest land in Rabun County covered 1,239 acres of steeply dissected terrain. Surveys were in NW, SW, and SE parts of the county, in forest compartments 55, 60, 74, 75, 105, 110, and 114. Three prehistoric sites, one of which may have been a lithic workshop, and one historic house were identified. All four were heavily damaged by log landing activities and/or road construction, and clearance for the projects is recommended.
