Abstract

In July and August 1984, Archaeological Research Associates, Inc., under contract with the United States Corps of Engineers, Mobile District conducted an archaeological investigation of the Still-DeLoach Wreck, Savannah Harbor, Georgia. The work included background research, data recovery and analysis. The analysis of the vessel has revealed that it is the remains of a moderate size sailing vessel about 100 feet at the water line with a 25 foot beam. The investigation has led Archaeological Associates, Inc. to the conclusion that the vessel is nation to the National Register of Historic Places. Recommendations for further study are made based on the knowledge that significant data on ship construction and southeastern commerce will be recovered.
