Abstract

A survey of the proposed Happy Valley development, a 300 acre development, was conducted to determine if there were any archaeological sites present that could be considered eligible for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places. The survey combined both systematic and availability methods in an attempt develop a clear understanding of the archaeology of the survey area. Two archaeological sites were found. Both are typical of the well known "upland lithic scatter" and consist of a few recognizable quartzite artifacts mixed In With normally encountered fractured quartzite pebbles. Neither of these sites is considered to be eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.
