Heritage resources surveys have been completed for 770 acres on the Brasstown Ranger District, Towns and Union Counties, Georgia. These field surveys were completed during August through September 1995 by Ricardo Fernandez-Sardina and Rebecca E. Bruce, as part of the general Forest cultural resources inventory and survey prior to decisions on ground disturbing activities. Portions of the following compartments were examined: 334, 336, 348, 365, 378, 382, 386, 388, 389, 390, 394, 402, 403, 404, and 405. No actions were proposed for the following compartments, so inventory was not conducted in them for these compartments; 331, 333, 335, 337, 340, 304, 344, 347, 349, 350, 387, 414, 326, 327, 328, 329, 333, 383, 384, 385, 391, 393, 406, 409, and 416. A total of five previously unrecorded sites and one previously reported site were found (Table 2). Two sites are recommended for protection and avoidance and are potentially eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The other four are determined not eligible for the National Register and no further work or protection are recommended.
