In January, 1997, personnel from SITE, Inc., under direction of Craig T. Sheldon, conducted a reconnaissance level survey of archaeological and historical resources on some 73 + acres which will be impacted by proposed taxiway construction at Gwinnett County Airport (Briscoe Field) near Lawrenceville, Georgia. This airport development will be undertaken by the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners and the Gwinnett County Airport Authority with partial funding from the Federal Aviation Administration. Surface survey and subsurface testing revealed no material culture in archaeologically or historically significant context. Full cultural clearance is recommended for the area affected by this airport improvement project.
