Abstract

An intensive cultural resources survey of approximately 45'ha (111 ac) was conducted at the confluence of Beaverdam and Wolf Creeks, northwest of the City of Monroe, Georgia. In order to expand the existing Monroe Reservoir, this acreage will be flooded. The survey found one isolated prehistoric artifact within the proposed flood pool, and a small prehistoric site on a knoll outside the reservoir. Both are recommended as ineligible to the National Register of Historic Places. Reservoir expansion will not affect any significant cultural resources and should be allowed to proceed.
