Abstract

The proposed project would consist of the installation of an Advanced Truck Warning System (ATWS) along the SR 10 Loop/US 129 westbound off-ramp at SR 15/US 441 in Clark County. The proposed ATWS would measure truck speed and, if necessary, show a warning message advising the driver to decrease speed before negotiating the right hand turn onto SR 15/US 441. The ATWS device would consist of two signs bolted together. The sign on the top would be a 48" diamond sign and the bottom sign would be a 48" wide by 36" tall rectangular sign. The sign assembly would also have 12" flashers flanking the diamond sign and would be mounted on a 35-foot mast arm pole. Additionally, conduit would be buried on the north side of the ramp shoulder, approximately 20 feet from the edge of pavement. It would run 970 feet from the end of the ramp (where it meets the arterial) back to an existing overhead freeway sign. The proposed project would be constructed within the existing right-of-way and no additional right-of-way or easements would be required.
