Abstract

Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc., at the request of the Roswell Historical Society, returned in 1990 to the presumed location of the Roswell Manufacturing Company's first cotton mill (ca. 1839) on Vickerys (Big) Creek in downtown Roswell, Georgia. One backhoe trench was excavated in an attempt to locate a second wall of the factory. Two rock walls, one thought to be an interior support pier or wall and the other the east exterior wall of the building, were discovered. The discovery of these walls appear to confirm the existence of the first factory building in this location.
