On January 6th and 7th of 2000 Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted an archaeological resources survey for an interchange widening project in Henry County, Georgia for Kisinger Campo & Associates, Corp. This survey included archival research and archaeological field survey. The investigation revealed that much of the general area has experienced a great deal of erosion and disturbance due to highway development. No previously recorded archaeological resources were located in the project area of potential effect. The field survey recorded one new archaeological site (9Mo519). The site is located roughly 10 meters (30 feet) from the projects center-line in the area of the proposed on ramp from Interstate 75 South approximately 60 meters (200 feet) northeast of Pate Road. The site is associated with an historic structure located roughly 24 meters (80 feet) to the south. The site exhibited a limited and fragmentary artifact assemblage and substantial disturbance from plowing and erosion. The site lacks research potential and is recommended not eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. No additional archaeological resources investigation is recommended within the project tract.
