Abstract

Between July 6 and August 6, 1999 Southern Research Historic Preservation Consultants, Inc. conducted an intensive archaeological survey of the Riverwood Plantation/Big Three Golf Club in Columbia County, Georgia for Canal Industries, Inc. The project area (Figure 1-1) is a 2,200 acre tract of land abutting the Savannah River in the eastern portion of Columbia County, Georgia. It is bounded on the east by the Savannah River main channel and on the south by Uchee Creek. Little Kiokee Creek parallels the northern boundary, and State Road 104 forms the southwestern boundary. Fieldwork was conducted by a four to six person crew between July 6 and August 6, 1999.
