Abstract

The following is being furnished to you for inclusion as written, in the appropriate environmental document:"In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and amendments thereto, project BR0000-00(685), Monroe County has been surveyed with respect to archaeological resources, especially those on or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP)". The purpose of the survey was to locate, identify and evaluate the significance of any archaeological resources within the proposed project's area of potential environmental effect. Project BR-0000-00(685) would replace the existing bridges on Reedy Creek Road over Tobesofkee Creek and Chambless Road over a tributary of Tobesofkee Creek in Monroe County, Georgia. The project was surveyed by Teresa Lotti in June of 2002 (HPD# HP020607-006). Since that time the proposed project has been changed to include additional widening between the two bridges on Reedy Creek Road. The existing right-of-way for Reedy Creek Road varies with a maximum of 80 feet. The required right-of-way for Reedy Creek varies with a maximum of 225 feet. The total length of the project is 1.240 miles. An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed project description was conducted along the entire length of the project corridor.
