The project will provide continuous, safe pedestrian connectivity along Candler Road between Memorial Drive and 1-285 through streetscape improvements. This project does not include improvements between Amelia Avenue and Glenvalley Drive, which is being completed as pan of a separate contact. Most planned improvements are within the existing right-of-way including crosswalk improvements, the installation of medians and pedestrian refuge islands with associated landscaping. and improved traffic ana pedestrian signals. Additional proposed improvements include the installation of new sidewalks and the upgrade of existing sidewalks; the installation of improved lighting. pedestrian amenities such as trash cans and benches, and landscaping: the retrofit of driveway aprons and accessible ramps where necessary to provide connectivity; minor intersection improvements; and the conversion of existing above-ground utilities to underground.
