Abstract

The survey described here was designed to locate and evaluate archeological sites in the area of a bridge replacement project proposed by the Georgia Department of Transportation. The proposed project would replace the bridge along State Route (SR) 102 in Glascock County, where the highway crosses Joe's Creek. A corridor was surveyed in advance of project plans. Three archeological sites were located during the course of survey (Table 1). Only one of the three sites, site 9GL10, is recommended as potentially eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Current project plans show that potentially sensitive portions of site 9GL10 will be avoided. Therefore, we recommend that the project will have no adverse effect on significant archeological resources.
