Abstract

Vann House State Historic Site (Figure 1) proposes relocating an existing Cherokee-built corn crib to the historic site. The crib is ca. 10 x 40 feet and will be located near the end of the driveway loop at the visitor center. The figure is a 1999 orthophoto that depicts conditions a few years before construction of the new visitor center. The parking lot and access road shown on the image have since been removed and a new access road that includes parking spaces has been constructed. The approximate location of the new road and visitor center are indicated on the image. The proposed crib location is on a moderate grassy slope near an existing rest room. The rest room can be seen at the west end of the former parking lot. The pavement has been removed and the area is now grasses over. which was removed prior to construction of the new visitor center.
