Abstract

In September 1993, Garrow & Associates, Inc., performed a Phase I survey of 516 acres slated for development as a landfill site in Banks County, Georgia. This survey identified 21 archaeological sites. Thirteen of these sites were recommended potentially eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), and the remaining eight were recommended ineligible for the NRHP (Lilly and Holland 1993). At the request of Chambers Development Company, Inc., in January 1996 Garrow & Associates, Inc., revisited the 13 sites recommended potentially eligible for the NRHP. The purpose of this site revisit was to delineate site boundaries for land surveyors. Additional shovel tests were performed at some of the sites; however, the level of effort was not intended to determine significance or mitigation planning. Attached are the amended forms for the 13 archaeological sites; these forms have been filed with the Georgia Archaeological Site Files in Athens, Georgia. Site revisit methods and findings are discussed in Lilly et al. (1996).
