Abstract

An intensive archaeological resources survey was carried out for the proposed Glade Road Substation Tract and Transmission Line Corridor in Bartow County, Georgia. The project was conducted in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act by personnel qualified under 36 CFR Part 61. The project tract is approximately 5 acres (2 hectares) and encompasses part of the proposed transmission line corridor. The survey corridor is approximately 2.8 km (1.75 mi) long and 30 meters (100 ft) wide. The corridor begins at an existing transmission line west of Glade Road. The corridor travels north, crisscrossing Glade Road and crossing over Allatoona Lake (near Clark Creek South Public Use Area). The corridor continues north until it reaches the substation tract west of the intersection of New Hope and Glade roads. The project tract and corridor contain pines with some hardwoods with grasses, poison ivy, and briers predominating as undergrowth. The project area is northwest of Acworth, Georgia. This survey was conducted for Jordan, Jones & Goulding. Background research and field survey indicate that no significant archaeological resources will be affected by the proposed construction. No additional archaeological resource investigations are recommended.
